AEM UEGO oxygen sensor interchangibility?

I've searched the internet and can't find a firm answer. I understand that in the UEGO FAQs on AEM's website it states that the sensor is configured specifically for the controller. I want to know if this is just so you buy their unit or if there is a bosch part number thats coincides with the AEM 30-2001..

anybody?
