Default Aem Filter Fell off

When I took apart the underbody panelling to clean my filter I noticed that I was just laying there completely off the Intake pipe. I went ahead and cleaned it and put it back on. It had obvioulsy at least been on the pipe for a while and then fallen off. Could that have caused any damage to my car, and if so is there anything I should do to fix it. Thanks.

Probably not.. If you want to you can spray some fuel injector cleaner in there but I have seen people run without air filters for a while and it doesnt hurt anything.. Majority of cars with aftermarket turbo setups on them like mine dont even run a filter..

The big worry is you dont want to suck a bug in there or something, but you would have known if you did that..

Thanks I was just kinda worried about it. It seems to be running fine though. Its just that some people told me that my valves might not settle right if there was to much debrit in there, but I would know it if they werent right? What are some signs of that?

I hardly doubt that you got anything harmful in there.. If thats the case then your car wouldnt idle correctly.. If your really worried about it you can do a compression test to make sure but im sure your fine.. Get a can of gumout fuel injection cleaner.. Its in a spray can.. Just remove your intake and spray it in there when its idleing.. The directions are on the can.. What year is your Prelude?

If its due for an oil change.. If its not its fine.. Stuff comming in through the intake has nothing to do with the oil..

Microscopic particles enter your engine and scratch up your cylinder walls. Then you get lots of blow by. Will you notice a difference? Probably no. But you just aged your engine many years and miles by not having it filtered. Not to mention that air filters have been shown to increase horsepower over an open setup (not a ram setup). Yes change your oil. I don't know who this guy is advising you. I strongly suggest seeking a second opinion.

I'm not saying its your fault or anything.

He didnt run with it off for a while.. It came off and he put it back on.. If he wants to get a second opinion then go for it.. If he wants to change his oil then go for it, theres no harm done by that..

Who knows how long I ran with it off for, Im hoping it was less than a week. I stupidly pulled over a pretty big curb and it rocked my car a bit. But anyhow I talked to both the Acura dealership and my local shop and they both said its most likely fine if I havent noticed anything yet. As far as my oil goes, if it needed to be changed it would be really dirty right?

50 miles on oil looks the same as 5000 miles on oil.. You have to keep track of your mileage.. If your unsure of the mileage then change it now and keep track..
