Default Adjustable Timing Gear Installation

I searched the site, but being unfamiliar with the car I was not sure what information I learned was applicable to my situation.

My Nephew has a 2000 Civic SX with a 16 VTEC engine. He wants me to help him install a set of adjustable timing gears that he has bought. I have extensive experience, but have never worked on a Honda.
I am looking for advice on what else should be done while we are in the area. I plan to replace the timing belt, but is anything else running off the timing belt that we should consider replacing while we are there.

Any hints on the job? He has a Haynes manual for the car (I gave it to him last year for his birthday) and I am sure we will need a tool or trick to get the crank pulley off.

Any help would be greratly appreciated so that I can make sure we have all the tools and parts ready. I am planning to do the job in a week or 2.

Thank You, and this site has a lot of good information.

The water pump while you're in there (depending on mileage, but you're changing out the timing belt what the hell, go for it).

A Helm's manual (helms.com or something) would be more detailed and would make installs of anything to your car more of a breeze, but I guess the Haynes should work if you already have common knowledge of the vehicle you're working on.

Yes, That's the hardest part of all if you're planning to take all that off to change the belt, waterpump, etc. Just use a strong impact if u have one handy (We had to use a 3/4" impact to get mine off). Just keep in mind that u don't really have to take all that apart if you decide to install just the cam gears and not the belt, etc. You can always just set it to TDC, release the tension, slide belt out, and just work on top end. Do what you prefer, and good luck!
