Hey,
I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to ADD side airbags to a 01-05 Civic that originally had none. I imagine I'd have to get front seats with the side airbags already built in, plus all the associated wiring, but would the car's computer system recognize them? If it had none to start with, would it be already programmed to recognize them when they are connected in? If it can't "see" them, they won't work when I need them. Side-SRS Civics are kind of hard to come by where I live, and if I could get a regular one and add the extra protection later, it would really expand my picking choices. I wouldn't mind just driving a regular non-side-SRS model if it was just for me, but if someone I care about is driving the car, I would want them to have the maximum protection they can get. Thanks.

 

Just buy the Side SRS model to start with, much much easier.

 

Wish I could... I found just one (!) in a hundred mile radius of where I live, and it looked like someone had taken a nail to it and scratched the paint all over the car. Not exactly what I was wanting for the $8000 they were asking.

 

Hmm... just after I said that, I found two more side-SRS equipped Civics on cars.com. I guess there may be hope after all.
