Default ? about lsd

before i get flamed, i did search and found nothing.I broke my axle on my way home tonight, with a quaife lsd it should continue to move right? But the engine rev up and the car not moving, why?

No it will not move if one axle is broke. I may not exp[lain it right but the lsd tries to distribute the power equally to both axles. But when one is broke all the power is transmitted to the good axle side and the clutches in the lsd cannot overcome that and it slips hence the name limited slip differential.

yeah... if you had a spool you would still be able to drive... lol i dont know how "drivable" it would be though..

I got this from quaife website.

The Quaife Differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one. With an ordinary open differential, standard on most cars, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheelspin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip (along the path of least resistance). The Quaife, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel.
