Default ?? about 93 B17A distributor, it will not work...

i picked up a 93 B17A GSR dist. a couple months ago, since i needed an OBD1 DOHC VTEC dist. for my new motor.

i was told it's OBD1, which i believe is true. the wires/pins aren't damaged.
i checked the Resistance accross the 3 internal sensors and they check out fine according to Helm's. i metered the coil and everything was good there as well.
the rotor shaft wasn't loose or damage either. everything seemed to be in perfect shape. there was supposedly a bit over 60K on the dist. if i remember correctly.

anyhow this dist. will not spark and crank the motor over. i've replaced the internal coil with other known good coils, and nothing. also using new dist. cap, rotor and wires so i know it's not that.

i installed my original dist. (94 GSR, but it's on my GF's motor cause she needed one) and it cranked right over without any trouble, drove fine. but i could only use the dist. for 2 days and then i had to give it back. so then i borrowed a dist. from a friend, a 94 or 94 GSR dist. it cranked over fine as well and i'm now using it on the car temporarily til i can get the dist. i have to work, hopefully.

so can anyone help me out with this?
i'm not sure what else to check, since i checked just about everything possible several times. the 94 and 95 GSR dist. crank right over, but not this supposed 93 GSR dist. i am using the original engine harness and an OBD1 ECU (unchipped) without and CEL's. i just don't know why it's not working. only thing i could think of is that it's not an OBD1 dist., but it should be if it's from a 93 GSR. the 93 GSR dist. looks just like an OBD2 B16A dist., basically an LS shape but with the correctly angled "legs" to bolt it on to the DOHC VTEC head. the only thing i can think of is that it's an OBD2 dist., but i doubt that cause the wires are the same between all of the OBD1 dist. i have.

any help would be appreciated.

yes that came to mind, but i'm not really sure which part the ignitor is.

is it built into the internal coil, or is it one of other components by itself?

thanks
