Icon2 99 accord hard shifting

I recently acquired a 99 automatic 4cyl vtec accord, and it is having some shifting issues. Here are the symptoms:

Once started, the car will shudder momentarily when shifted into D4, D3, 2, or 1 from P, R, or N. It will not shudder when shifting between forward gears, only when you first shift into one of the forward gears. It does not shudder when shifting back to park or neutral. It also does not shudder when shifting to reverse.

The car will also shudder when coming to a full stop. The shudder is not intermittent, it is consistent whether the car is warm or not. When in drive, the car will accelerate and shift normally and the transmission does not slip.

There are no other problems with the car, the transmission fluid is clear, red, and not burnt smelling

The checking engine light is on, and the codes are:
P0753 Shift Solenoid A Electrical
P0763 Shift Solenoid C Electrical

I have tested the solenoids, and I hear an audible click when I apply 12 volts, but I know this does not rule out an issue with the solenoids.

I know almost nothing about the history of the car (like whether or not the tranny has been rebuilt before), the car runs perfect, but it has 209,000 miles on it.

Any insight into other tests that I can perform, or likely causes will be greatly appreciated.
