It could be the cat. But it is the secondary O2 sensor that is telling the computer that the cat is bad.

What I am saying is it could be the secondary O2 sensor.

It is cheaper than a cat.

Also check with your H dealer some emissions related components might be covered under warranty.

Not likely, if it has a p0420 it probably has a bad cat.

yes it threw a p0420 code............so can i pass emissions by getting an aftermarket cat like the one above on ebay?........rather spend $50-$100 on aftermarket one that can pass emissions vs OEM for an arm and leg.

We haven't had any luck with a/m cats, they dont seem to last very long. But i've heard from others that some work well, haven't heard a brand name though.

Ok, got a deal from my mechanic......got one that can pass emissions for $235 installed. Sounds good to me

but on the downside, i did lots of maintainence to the car.

rotors needed to be replaced (brembo) $150
brake pads $105
wheel bearing ($50 each) $100
hub $150
cat cnvt $235
driver side window weather stripping $10
oil change $20
Total damage is $770
plus labor $200

$970 out the door
