I ovetorqued one of my exhaust cam bolts (the longer one) the way the bolt broke caused my drillbit to walk all over the inside of the hole preventing me from using an EZ-out. I got aggressive and bought a Heliocoil, followed all the directions( I have successfully used them in the past) Now I cannot get the bolt to tighten at ALL. Is there ANY way I can fix this without taking off the head? ( I dont want to have to replace the gasket if I can avoid it$$) Should I try a different size Heliocoil? Should I take it to a machine shop? I need help please...its my daily driver...believe it or not, im pretty mech. inclined(just a dumb... for overtorquing the bolt) Thanks

 

this happened to me too. i feel your pain. how far down into the bolt hole did it break? deep enough to slightly drill and retap using a slightly larger size? the aluminum will drill out easy because its soft, so you wouldnt really need a drill press for it
