I have a 95 civic Cx and I recently started having issues with starting the car. I have to turn it over 4 to 5 times before it'll fire. Sometimes it'll start for a moment, then die. Turn it over again, and she's good. Runs like a champ after that. It usually only happens when the car has sat for a few hours.

I checked fuel pressure out of the filter and idling it was at 44psi, revving spiked it up to 50ish, the when I turned it off it dropped to 20. I let it sit for about 30 min and it dropped to 15 psi.

I have not checked the main relay. I'm thinking it's not that because sometimes I prime the fuel pump a few times before cranking and the fuel pump turns on every time. If it was the relay the fuel pump would be intermittent, correct?

 

possible check valve in fuel tank letting fuel leak back? if you prime the pump 3-4 times before you start it ,does it start right away?

 

It's doesnt Fire right up, but it definitely helps. It starts to run, but will die 2 seconds later. Then on next crank she'll be good

 

so you have gone from 4-5 cranks to 2. sounds like we may have found the problem?
