95' Civic EX with B18C1 engine swap coolant issues
Hey folks,
First time poster many time reader of these forums.
I've got a 95' Civic with a B18C1 engine swap. Bought the car not running off a friend of mine and managed to get it going with some simple maintenance (spark plugs, fuel pump, oil change, brake fluids etc etc). So the car runs, but the coolant temperature gauge never seems to move. In the first couple weeks of having the car and tinkering with it, the needle would move a tiny but and then just drop back down below the 'C' mark on the cluster.
I am also having an over-fuelling issue. The exhaust is running extremely and my fuel economy is about 250km per tank. It definitely has a small tank and I know Honda's typically can run rich but I wouldn't suspect this rich.
Today I replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor, because I read that if it was faulty it could cause over-fuelling and the gauge in the cluster not to move. However, after replacing it and allowing the engine to get up to operating temp, the gauge still didn't move, and I think the radiator fan is also not cycling. At first the upper rad hose was hot and the lower rad hose wasn't. I took the car for a quick rip around my block and then the lower rad hose was also warm. Could the thermostat be faulty? Or perhaps a connection between my cluster and the sensors?
Any input would be great!
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks,
Nick.
