93 H22 Block
Hey guys i just have a couple of questions that i wanted to throw out at cha to see if someone could help me out. First off does anyone know if a 93 JDM H22 block would be a closed or open deck and second how much force induction (supercharger, nitrous, turbo) is safe for the cylinder walls, pistons, etc. I am currently runnig a stock motor, but was trying to plain for rebuild and wasnt for sure if i would need to sleeve or not. Thanks ahead of time and the
is on me.
is on me.
forgot to add: the pistons will give out first; the ring lands tend to break before anything else. The stock cylinder walls are very strong, but noone's ever tested them since the pistons must be replaced relatively soon, and you must have the block sleeved when dropping in forged pistons. Wiseco recently put out some forged pistons that are supposedly safe to use on the stock FRM walls, so I would say the cylinder walls are good for up to ~375-400 crank horsepower.
If it is a closed deck then that means that it cant be sleeved correct no sleeve in the block just a solid block. And for the FRM i thought it was just installed in the later model blocks that was the open deck style block. As for the nitrous i was going to install a 80 wet shot on the motor. Do you think that it would hold that shot for awhile considering that i dont get to happy with it. Here and there type of use.
All of the H-series motors had FRM, just the closed deck motors were a bit stronger. The 80 shot should be fine for a daily shot, as long as you do a compression test and your motor's in good shape.
