90 LS CODE 43
Im getting code 43. Seems like its a fuel related problem. Something about the fuel not burning up inside the combustion chamber. According to ALLDATA, the issue is caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator, a bad O2 sensor, a short in the O2 sensor wire to the ECU, and finally but most likely not the ECU itself. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator with another used one and no success. I then changed the O2 sensor and still. I even tried another ECU and nothing. The only thing that I haven't checked is for a short in the wire. I recently changed the VTEC head I had on my LS to the stock one because I got a state referee ticket and need to put it all back. I have now checked the timing belt to be in the correct position 4 times and am sure its where it needs to be. But for the life of me, the distributor cannot be adjusted to match the red line at 16 degrees. I know that the range is 16+- 2 degrees but it still does not have enough adjustment. So finally, I went ahead and cut the holes on the distributor to give it that small adjustment I needed to make the line match up and it worked. But now, the car is throwing this code 43. Can someone tell me if doing that modification to the distributor would cause this problem. If this is the case, why wont it line up without the modification if the timing belt is where it needs to be. Or what else can it be?
