88 PRELUDE IDLE ISSUES
I have an 88 Honda Prelude 2.0si and it had a starting issue, now an idle issue. Started with me driving it around all day, high reving on accident a few times (just bought it recently and trying to get used to the clutch). Well my boyfriend and I went to Wally world for a moment and went to start it and it wouldnt start. Popped the hood and tapped on random ignition parts (plug wires, battery cables etc.). It started, had to hold the gas for it to stay on. Got home, turned it off. About an hour later, I start it and it starts perfectly fine. Move it 10 feet, turned it off, and go back about half hour later and again, does not want to start. Took about 20 tries and started. Well that was the last time it started till I changed my plugs and wires.
Car now has a rough idle.
It has a steady backfire that blew a rust hole through my exhaust. So now I have a nickel size hole in my exhaust. It doesn't die out, but will fluctuate RPM from 900-1500 very slowly (not like a vacuum leak) and it sounds normal when I bring it up to 2000 RPM. If I tap the gas, it will do a tiny backfire...
Any way, thats about it and I can't freak'n figure it out without the right tools.
All I can think is cap/rotor, Distributor or Timing. Any ideas???
