6 cat converters...
i might try it anyways, but i dont have a car that would fail otherwise...hmm, ill see if i can get some free used stock cats from h-t members.
anyone know for sure though?

I think you would end up with a very emissions friendly vehicle, however it would take forever to for all the cats to warm up, and your horsepower would greatly suffer (like you haven't already figured on that happening)

No, I'm from North Carolina and keep my car registered there, I've never had to get anything checked for emissions. But we do have state vehicle inspections, on the other hand they aren't hard to pass so nevermind.

Too restrictive. Also, a cat needs to warm up. A WRX has 3 of them. I think 3 will suffice at most.

Depends on what part of NC you are in. Some counties do emissions checks. Wake county is now doing obd-2 checks as well.

My friend actually did this to pass his state ref ticket. He first went in with a jdm 4-1 header with 1 cat. He didnt pass emission but passed visuals. When he went back he had 2 cats with the jdm header and he didnt pass visuals. So for the final one he went back with stock usdm header and 3 cats and passed with flying colors. I doubt that you will need 6. 3-4 with a stock header should be good enough.

with a high compression na motor or a built turbo one, i dont think so
its for those motors that i wanna try this experiment

a well tuned engine will pass with one cat, on a high comp. engine timing gears would help on NoX scavenging exhaust to intake to reduce those high combustion temperatures.
