EDIT: Problem solved. Although I could not find a short by simply testing the outlets. I ended up pulling the outlets out and disconnecting them from the wire harness. When I checked the front outlet after it was disconnected, I found it was faulty. Fixed that, reinstalled, and everything is grand.

15 amp, interior fuse panel, slot #9

There are 2 accessory outlets. One below the radio, one inside the arm rest console. Neither one of them are supposed to be “hot” until the ignition switch is turned to “acc”.

Recently the fuse blew with a tablet plugged in. I replaced it. Blew again shortly after. Now it blows as soon as I insert a new fuse. If I insert a fuse with the car off it blows as soon as I turn the ignition switch to “acc”. Nothing is plugged in to either outlet. So it’s obviously a short.

Or not?

I pull the fuse. I check the outlet under the radio with an ohmmeter. It reads infinite. Same result with the other outlet. I check each terminal in fuse slot #9 separately - one lead from the ohmmeter to the fuse terminal, the other lead to ground. Both terminals read infinite to ground.

What the hell? Any ideas? I can’t find anything else that fuse operates. I’m half tempted to rewire both outlets. Just wanted to see if someone here has any ideas or info that I don’t have.
