2001 ITR - Weird Starting Issue
Hi all, im pretty stumped on this one and wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen to them?
This only happens if the car sits for more than a few (4) days without it being started. If I drive the car more frequently the car starts fine.
A new starter was installed within the last year. The battery is always on a battery tender.
If I try cranking the car nothing happens. All cluster lights do turn on.
If I keep cycling the key eventually the car starts to crank but very slowly, by continuing the cycling process the car cranks faster and faster
After 20-25 on/off cycles, the car finally fires up and runs.
If i turn off the car immediately and try to start it again, it fires right up like there is no issue.
Any idea of what this could be?

I am thinking low voltage on starter exciter lead, [starter wire], try a bypass jump... https://honda-tech.com/tech-misc-15/...mp%5D-2961164/ if the bypass jump works then it is a current problem on the starter lead and that may be because of the contacts in the ign. switch, [starter circuit] contacts in the starter relay or a connection problem.
You will need a multimeter to see where the connection problem is, [if that's the problem] starting at the ign. switch test voltage on the starter lead when cranking to start. 94

Just because the wires are secured doesn't mean they have good connection. Remove any rust or corrosion. The thick ground wire that connects your transmission to your chassis is the main ground for the starter. Also, inspect the main power wire connected directly to the starter motor for cleanliness.
If problem still persists, break out that multi-meter and start troubleshooting further
