Default 2 s2k differentials?

I had a brain scheme, but wanted to run this by everyone in case some of you know for sure. Lets say I have a s2k rear diff. and for the sake of argument the shaft spins clockwise looking from the front. The axles then turn so the top side runs toward the front of the car causing forward motion. I'm not sure how tranny's and diffs really work, but I wondered this: if then you took that same diff and ran the shaft in the opposite direction, ccw looking at the input, would it then move the axles so the bottom side headed toward the front causing rear motion?
