Default 2 Layer head gasket?

Plan on using a OEM honda/acura head gasket for a LS/VTEC build up. Wanting to only use two of the three layers. Which of the 3 layers are used for this?. Any special tips for installing this other then cleaning them with part cleaner spray then copper spray??
TIA

I personally will never take apart an OE headgasket.... There is no problem with doing so but getting a good seal is the tricky part... You probably have about a 50/50 chance of getting a full seal.. If you chose to use two layers then it really doesn't matter, you'll use the middle layer and either the top of the bottom. You'll get a jump in compression but it's up to you to decide if it's really worth it... I go by this.. an OE headgasket is 0.029" for each layer you take out you're pulling about 0.010" which ='s ~0.25:1 just in compression with a standard bore... So you figure the most you're probably ever going to get is about 0.50:1 over stock... I just like OE headgaskets the best (best sealing and they always fit right)... If you do go aftermarket then I would check into the Cometic lineup... Peace
