were is the year on the head located? is that the screw type thing with the 2 numbers on it? i know its a 1st gen because DOHC is bigger than the vtec sign.

Valve covers can be changed easilly. JDM motors are labled B16A and thats is. USDM versions will have a number after it, like B16A2 or A3.
Look on the front passenger side of the head. You will see little embossed circles with two numbers on it. The first one on the left will be your production date.

thanx alot....is there a way to see if my jdm b16 is stolen or not? if a cop stopps me and pops my hood how would that go? i dont have import papers i brought the engine from a trusting friend though.
