1996 Civic - Sporadic stalling when easing clutch
Hello,
I have a 1996 Civic Hatchback. Manual Transmission
The car jerks then stalls about 60% of the time when going from neutral to first and first to second. (feels like I'm a new driver learning how to work a clutch) The clutch doesn't seem to be slipping at all.
It had a similar issue last year with jerking from a stop which was determined to be an over-stretched throttle cable. That cable was replaced and problem resolved. The difference is that now it actually stalls.
I have noticed that the speedometer has stopped working recently - could these symptoms be related? (bad VSS maybe?)
I'm stumped. Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Bad VSS won’t affect your drivability. Sounds like your clutch slave cylinder is going out or the clutch pedal needs adjusted
