12:1+ Compression on 91 octane?
Hey guys,
I am going to be building my motor within the next 4 months (hopefully) and one of my many plans is to build my bottom end. I was considering either CTR pistons, which yield ~12:1 compression or some Endyn Rollerwave pistons which yield ~12.5:1 compression. Unfortunately where I live the gas stations only carry 91 octane as their highest. There are a few gas stations who provide 100+ octane, but I don't want to spend $4 per gallon to fill up. I am curious as to if it is possible to run 12:1+ compression on 91 octane gasoline, safely, and not sacrifice too much performance. What do you guys think? Does the timing need to be retarded all the way? Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for your help!

You should be ok. If your getting any detonation, you could always throw in some Octane booster on every fill up.
I'd say 12.5:1 is pushing it though...
