Default 00 Civic SI problem help please!

Ok I have a 00 Civic SI and last week I was on my way home and the service engine lights came on and it started acting funny like gettin kinda jumpy or something... But anyways I took it to auto zone the next day and had it scanned and it said multiple cylinder misfire.. Well I changed the plugs, wires, coil, and that didnt help its still doin the same thing.. So I took it to a local mechanic shop and he said it had no compression that he would have to pull the head off and go from there. So wat do you guys think?? I really didnt wanna spend all my christmas money on head work or a new motor, its just my daily driver....Please help

Tell your mechanic to do a compression check with you there to watch. Sounds like someone just wants to make a buck by doing a head gasket that you might not need. See if your oil is milky or if you have no coolant in the radiator. Your ignitor might also be bad. If you have a friend wth a dizzy thats the same type, swap it out with his. You could also have water in the gas tank. Just because it has a random misfire doesn't mean it needs a head gasket

Like they said, have them SHOW you the gauge as they are testing it to make sure, then go from there. Make sure you do check all your fluids. How'd the old plugs and wires look? Any moisture in the tubes?

Check your distributor, it might have gone bad. Replace it with a working one or a new one and repeat the drive that caused the CEL to come on, if it doesn't then you have fixed your problem.

Or, the best tool to use in this case...

Find someone/mechanic place that as a lab scope or an oscilloscope. Hook that thing up and all your misfire problem will show up clear as day.

what spark plugs are you using? and what are they gapped too? I would bring it to a few other shops and see what they have to say.
