**Girl in need of Help Interga problem**
Sorry to not have a general question on my topic but i dont know whats wrong with my car and i was wondering if anyone else might have had the same problem.. My car is a 94 LS with 144,xxx mils on it I replaced the tranny last winter and it works great but last week when i cranked my car it started reving up to 3 and then shooting back down to 1 and doing that over and over. when i drove it for a little while it would go away but now its doing it worse.. And now it wont go away when im driving it. It does that when im idling. and now its not wanting to crank up at all. I changed my oil spark plugs and cleaned out my throttle body with cleaner And it still hesitates to crank up I was thinking it might be my gas pump not turning on But they rarely go out?? Any one have any sugestions besides getting a new car... Thanks for all your help!!! ~Jessica~
I also have checked the coolant and its fine..

mil: malfunction indicator light. its a check engine light. if the check engine light is on then it will give you a code. this code will in turn point you in the appropriate direction.
Yes i know that im a girl!! Good looking out!! But seriously i just want to know if anyone has had this prob before and might want to help out.... That is what this fourm is for right?? At least im here trying to figure out whats wrong with it...

Yea thats the weird thing it's not throwing any codes.. No check engine lights nothing.. Just wont crank and if it does it revs up to like 3.5 and goes straight down and dies.. Then i have to sit and crank it again and feather the gas to keep it cranked...

Have you performed any engine mods recently? or let someone fiddle around with your engine or ecu at all ?
Have you checked your coolant level?
Sometimes if your car is way low on coolant/water the idle surges exactly like what your is doing.

Again, check the coolant level.
Remove the rad cap and see if the coolant is topped off, if it looks dry in there, add some water till its topped off.
If that's not the issue, of course, it could be a vacuum line issue. Either a vacuum line came off (somewhere on your intake manifold) or there's a small hole punctured in a vacuum line.

Wow, that's like saying you have an "engine problem". Maybe she wanted a better or more detailed guess so she wouldn't waste her time with things that were fine?
She obviously knows what she's talking about, so get off your ******* high horse. Just because she's a girl doesn't mean she doesn't know or do anything right. Just reading her posts tell you that she's at least car competent.

You, dude, are a dumbass.
Things like that aren't welcome here.
As for the problem:
Usually the cause of this is a bad or dirty IACV (idle air control valve).
Get some carb or brake cleaner, take off the IACV (which is located on the back of your intake manifold), and spray the brake/carb cleaner on it to clean all the **** on there.
Once you have done that, put the IACV back on, and start up the car.
