Default What years & trims had ABS standard or optional?

Hey y'all--

I'm looking for a Civic or Accord (or an Acura) for my stepdaughter, priced around $3000-$4000, so maybe that'll get me a car made in the late 90s. I want a clean, mostly-stock car with an automatic. It MUST have ABS, and I know ABS was available only on certain trims, etc. I copied the following Civic info from another post, but need more info on other Civic years, plus Accords.

Basically, if I see an ad for a 95 Civic DX, I know it definitely doesn't have ABS, so I won't call about it. If I see a 95 Civic EX, I know I have to call and ask if it has ABS (and then half the people in the world are too stupid to know the difference, so I'll have to go look at the car regardless of the answer.)

Did ABS become standard on some models in my price range (3-4K), or has it always been optional? If you can list years and trims with ABS availability, I'd really appreciate it!!

thanks!!!

You have to watch with the older models, as the ABS can have issues that are expensive to fix. The ABS unit in my 97 GSR has leaking valves, which causes the high pressure to leak and the ABS motor to run often. I am considering the somewhat wild idea of custom installing one from an RSX.

'92 - '00 EXs had it standard, except '93 - '95 EX coupes where it was optional. '92 - '95 LX sedans had it as an option, '96 - '00 LXs had it standard. As far as Integras '94 - '01s were all ABS equipped except for the RS and IIRC special editions.

Be aware that ABS on civics of that time period are nothing special, and at this point a lot of those ABS equipped cars no longer have working ABS. That and once you cut the non ABS cars out of the equation finding a '92 - '00 Civic becomes pretty hard since so few of them had ABS.

^ Nice work. I'll just add that the '94 Civic Si 3dr also had it as an option, only 94-95 EX Coupes had it as an option, as well as only 94-95 LX Sedans (ie., no '93s).
