what dampers to use w/ h&r race springs
i have h&r race springs w/ kyb gr-2's. it rides like ****. i dont mind the stiffness, it's the shock letting the spring shoot back down when its compressed. i think my spring rates are 460lbs/in in front and 380lbs/in in rear. what shock would pair up good with my springs?

Re: (ku)
not sure thats what they mean when they say shorter shock. they may be talking about the shock piston. All shocks by most good manufacturers should keep the ride height constant (with the expecption of koni perch adjusters). But tokcio illuminas, would be a good bang for the buck shock, that would work well with them. Also, if money is an issue, look into Koni Red. they can handle the race shocks on 3/4 stiff, and theyre a really tough shock.

I know nothing about shocks & need the same advice. All I can say is to stay away from GR2's & Tokiko HP's as they are both pretty much stock replacements.

No, the reds are not externally adjustable, the AGXs are.

Seriously don't waste your time with other shock... for you aggressive drop you need a quality shock that can handle them like the Koni Yellow (Sports).

i just got new wheels and tires and now my hatch suspension is completely done. im running the h&r race springs with koni yellows and wouldnt have it any other way. ive been in cars with KYB AGX's, Tokico Ill., Koni Reds, Billsteins, Stock OEM, and i cant think of any more and i will say that the Koni yellows BY FAR stand out as a greater shock then the said other companies.
this is both dd and raced.

I concur, I ran the same set-up, also if you wanted to upgrade the springs to GC sleeves in the future you would have a track ready set-up. H&R race match well with Koni yellows, and you put the koni's on the lowest perch when u install them, too have a lower ride height. I loved the way they felt, great daily driver set-up

You really cant go wrong with Koni Yellows. If you use your spring rates w/ the AGX they will have a hard time keeping up. The Koni's are one step below a full coilover damper and the warranty is awesome

That's kind of a broad statement. They're many levels above most "full coilovers" on the market these days, although there are a few that are a level above.

Re: (nonsense)
If you can deal with "set and forget" the koni reds are excellent, and would work with those springs on 1/2 - 3/4 stiff. Theyre really tough, and cheaper than the yellows by a fair bit. Id go reds over AGX having had both, but AGX arent bad either.

u cant go wrong with the koni yellows, simple as that. They provide a smooth ride, and they handle the 2.75" front and the 2.25" rear drop with no problem.
