Default spring height

I will be getting coilover sleeves and ers 400f, 500r, on koni yellows on my '00 hatch. Should I do a 7" or 8" high spring and why?

Those lengths put the perch closer to the middle of the sleeve at a stock ride height or slightly lower. This gives you the greatest available adjustment in either direction. You can go with longer or shorter springs at either end of the car, but you sacrafice some adjustability in one direction or the other. For example, I have had 6, 7 and 8" springs in the rear of my CRX and you can get away with it at certain ride heights but the range of adjustment is limited the shorter you go.

i thought it was shorter in the rear. at least for civics and crx.

I don't know if that is the case for the 00 civic. The CRX certainly uses longer in the front. I figured .RJ looked it up
