Default Higher rear spring rate?

What are effects of having a higher spring rate in the rear?
Right now I have a GC kit with 10" front 350 rate springs...... and I have a choice of either 300 or 400 7"ers for the rear. Will the higher rear rate paired with a fat rear swaybar cause the rear end to get squirrely on me or what?

You want better traction to the front wheels (lower spring rate in front) since you drive a FWD automobile.

If there are no negatives to it.... why don't high performance springs come with a higher rate out of the box? Keeps the kids from wrecking?

High spring rates put a TON of pressure on tires. My friend runs 600 front 800 rear springs, and his rear azenis have gone bald within 2 months. A stiff suspension puts all of the load on the tires having to turn the car, whereas a soft suspension will put the load on the spring and the car can lean into the turn and turn itself.

You have 10" springs on the front? How come?

a 300F/400-450R is about the most I would run in a dual purpose car driven on OTS struts (KYB AGX's/Koni Yellow's) and street tires. I'd also only run say 7-8 x 2.5" springs. A 22-23mm rear bar woudln't hurt either.

That's now I got them. My bro gave them to me with 4 of the 7" springs. I put all of those springs on and the car was super slammed up front...... even with the perch all the way up. I got those 10"ers out of his closet. He had wanted a higher rate up front so while ordering, he grabbed a part number from one of the springs... which happened to be a 7". He never realized.

I have since installed the 10" 350 springs in front and the 7" 300s in the rear. The 7" 400s are sitting on my shelf. On my hatchback I have a full 99 Si front suspension with the 26mm bar. All I need are some Si endlinks and the 22MM ITR rear sway can go in.

Hmmm that doesn't sound right at all. My car is equal to or higher then stock all the way up. Maybe they were backwads or upside down. This has happened before and slams the car. Oh well.
