rear shock, must stop the squeak!!

rear shock, must stop the squeak!!
so I searched, searched, and then searched again and only found half answered questions or none at all and I'm still lost.
So my problem seems common, from my rear right illumina shock i hear a clicking (metal against metal) and squeaking (at low speeds little to no bumps). The clicking I'm assuming is from the nut that you're supposed to tighten with a wrench while holding the middle with an allen key, it has a fingernail of travel when pushing on that side. Is this normal? From the instructions it said not to overtighten that nut so i left it at like 3 threads, perhaps I should tighten it more?
And now the squeaking, which is driving me up the freakin wall. I really dont want to have to remove the shock again because it was hell getting at the LCA....so much hell.
Anyway any answers and opinions are appreciated, thanks.

tighten that shock. i bet your squeeks will go away.
the metal clanging noise is the dust boot ringing probably. if its loose, it will ring like a bell.

youre supposed to tighten it all the way.
however, once you feel it become really tight, dont gorilla it and stop right there, youve tightened it all the way.

Did you check your swaybar bushings? Mine would squeak as well. I applied some lithium grease on the surfaces between the bar and the bushing, and between the bushing and the brackets, and that has solved my squeaking.

I have the same problem! I was just about to post the same thing but i found what I was going to post. when I'm in first gear going like 5 mph...i can hear it but once i shift to second I can't hear it anymore. I parked it in my garage and I shock my front, right side of the car and it seems like the shock is rubbing against something....a squeaking sound.

Back from the dead eh? I found the culprit a while back but was too lazy to post
For anyone else that has this problem check your bumpstops. Moving them around a bit on the shock I realized they were making that annoying squeaking noise so I went out and bought some lithium grease and lubed that **** up, haven't heard it since. And the grease seems to have dried up now after about 2 months or so but still no squeak.
