please help! rear strut mount bushing 92 civic, how do I get it out?
What a day! What should have been a 2 hour job to chang ethe rear struts with hand tools turned into an all day adventure. Long story short the lower rear strut mount bolts were siezed in and broke when I took and impact too em. The bolt was siezed into the bushing, and trying to work them out the intter part of the bushing seperated leaving me with jus a bit of rubber ad the metal collar in the control arm
How on earth do I remove and replace these bushings? I have a set of new ones on order for tomorrow but I have no clue how i'm supposed to replace em.
Is there a special tool for pressing bushings in and out?. I can;t remove the whole lower control arm because I'm pretty sure i'll break the other bolts if I try. I need to do this on the car if at all possible.
I can probably cut the metal part tof the bushing with a hacksaw and chizel it out if I have too, but how do I get the new one in? I'm gussing it can;t be hammered in?
Any help at all would be HUGELY apreciated. This is my only car and I gotta work Sunday

I had same problem, do a search lots of people have too.
Take a propane torch, flame away the rubber around the middle piece (WELL VENTILATED AREA IT STINKS). Pick at it with like a metal poker i used some metal spike i had laying around (be careful if its in flame it gets hot )
Then once you are done you are left with a metal ring that went around the rubber, take a sawzall a quick cut (Its not thick and you dont want too much of a marking in to the LCA itself!) and just push it out.
Install the new bushing by spraying some lube on it, I just used some liquid wrench spray, give it a couple taps with the hammer (lightly) and it slid right in, no press needed. I bought the KYB replacement bushings, FYI.
Here is my thread on the whole ordeal. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2239394
Exact same problems ALLL day and I only finished 3 of the 4 struts lol.

Re: (tazeat)
Thanks for the reply... I got her done today. I used a hacksaw to cut the shell and it popped out pretty easy after that. Getting the new ones in SUCKED. I prolly should have used OEM honda bushings, but I used Moog, and they fit way too tight, I eneded up sanding the bushing down with a 80 grit flapper wheel till it went in, even then it took a damn big hammer.
Rear suspension = done
Hopefully the front goes more smoothly!

Ya front is usually easier, I picked KYB bushings simply because I read other users having good luck getting them installed. They were pretty easy, a little lube and a couple taps and they just about flew out the other side.

Thanks for your input!
A note to anyone atempting this job - avoid moog bushings unless you have a balljoint/bushing press of some kind. Sounds like KYB/OEM are the way to go. Moog is a quality bushing but it is one tight friggen fit.
