Re: The New Koni Orange STR.T shocks
i mean on my crx.
i couldnt drive with them on my crx. *** would be dragging too much, definite load jacking as the suspension compressed and couldnt keep up before the next bump. at the lowest setting.
my illuminas, the same ones i raced with, handle stock springs fine. why? because compression and rebound adjust simultaneously. i just leave them at a lower level. set it and forget it.

Is there any possibility that your Yellows had a non standard valving? I've never heard anyone complain the stock Yellow rebound is too stiff at the full soft setting, and it's not my personal experience either. Koni supposedly valves them to work with stock springs at full soft.

Re: The New Koni Orange STR.T shocks
I just received my back ordered from a month ago Koni Str.t dampers and out of the box I'm not impressed. Press the shaft into the cylinder and there pretty stiff on the compression but there is no rebound. Compress them and they just sit there. Is the rebound controled entirely by the spring pressure? There resistance if you pull the shaft out manually but I thought there was supposed to be some gas pressure. BTW they're going in a Del Sol with Tein H-techs.

You can't determine anything by "testing" a damper with your hand.

Exactly... a shock can only be tested with real forces pushing the piston in and pulling it back out. This is either by road bumps (pushing it in) and the spring on the car (pulling it out) or on a shock dyno that simulates the real world conditions.

These shocks are great. I'm using them on stock civic springs as these were bought for my dd. Fitment is like oem shocks. First couple weeks they will feel stiff, but once broken in, they feel like stock. Not sure how they are on lowered vehicles, but ff you're looking for an oem replacement, I give these 2 thumbs up.

Re: The New Koni Orange STR.T shocks
I know this is an old thread but as a follow up... After about 22,000 miles on the koni str.t shocks with tein H-tech springs in my del sol: the right front blew last summer and leaked enough oil to coat my suspension components, after seeing my my rear tires cupping checked the rears and the right rear shock was leaking and the left rear was starting to leak and had no rebound what so ever. From outward appearances, I don't think the left front is leaking but I haven't had a chance to pull it apart for a close look. Koni has replaced the 3 bad shocks but unless someone answers the phone, they do no return calls making the return process a bit more aggravating. The ride quality showed great improvement when I switched the rears to stock shocks out of my parts car that had 170,000 miles on it.

Yea, it's been a while, but I'll throw a review up. Honestly, when I first took the car out I was not very impressed. I expected ride quality to be at least a little stiffer, but it really didn't feel that much different from the old blown out stockers. Fast forward to a couple years later, my brother sold the car, and the new owner took it to the acura dealer. The techs said that the two rear shocks were blown out and were leaking oil, so the new owner swapped em out for new stock shocks.
Take it for what it's worth. Personally, I'd never buy them again, and just stick with koni yellows.

Hmmm....anyone else have any reviews? I have some H-Techs and Koni STR.Ts that I was planning on installing but if they are that bad maybe I'll just sell them.

Sad to read something like this, especially when it comes to a company like Koni. Hopefully this was an isolated incident.
For me, I went w/Eibach Struts...and couldn't be happier...I hope to read some more positive reviews on the STR.T's, subscribed.

Re: The New Koni Orange STR.T shocks
Bump for more updates. I did some research on google and it seems that most people like these. I did find a couple people on VW forums saying that one of the shocks blew after a short time...but they also might be "slammed" to the ground.

You can't expect to pay $500 for a jem of a Honda.
And you can't expect to pay $250 for a set of esaily one of the best OTS shocks on the market.
Don't forget, you gotta pay to play!
