need to replace cv boot for alignment??
wats up guys.. well i'm going in for an alignment on wednesday.. i have a torn cv boot and last night i saw that i have a torn boot on my rack and pinion/gear box.. [IMG=http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/catimgs/13SR80_J23.gif][/IMG] #15.. should i get these affect the alignment process??? tia

No, a torn cv boot or a rack and pinion boot will not affect your alignment. But you should still get your cv boot replaced. Have a tech check the joint for damage first. You can take of that before or after your alignment. The 2 are not related.
Well, to replace the rack and pinion boot, you have to take off the outer tie rod. This does affect your alignment. Its would be better to have that changed before the alignment.
Most alignment shops will garauntee the alignment for a certain period, so you can change the boot later and just have the alignment checked after you fix the boot.
When you take off the outer tie rod, you can mark where the tie rod was and put it back in the same place, which may or may not affect your alignment at all. Its just safer to do the boot first.
