Default drums to discs!

so i've got rear drum brakes on my 97 civic. would it be too hard/expensive to switch to rotors, and would it be worth it?? car is mainly used as a daily driver, but i'm getting into auto X. if its possible, any good brands??

Brands?

You have to swap your whole rear trailing arm assembly from a civic or integra with rear discs. Youll need the donor vehicles brake hoses too. It's always a good idea to do a complete brake job before you install them too. Brakes don't sit well in a junk-yard exposed to the elements...

You'll have to get e-brake cables from another car (search to find which ones fit your specific car). You'll also need a proportioning valve if you don't have a hatchback...

no it wouldnt be worth it. you wont get any extra braking and itll only make the car heavier.

Just replace the front pads with something better and run regular stock front disks

The exact weight difference has yet to be determined (as far as I've read).

From the looks, most of the material of the drum is located as far from it's rotational center as possible. This would make the discs easier to spin & stop...

so the most logical thing to do is just switch pads?? new slotted and cross drilled rotors wouldnt' help much more?? i see....

most logical thing is to make sure your brakes are well maintained and have decent brake pads and fresh fluid and clean (plain) rotors.
