coilover help
Hey everyone, I own a 98 prelude and I just bought it like 3 weeks ago and it is currently setup up on coilovers sleeves (brand unknown). When I bought it from the previous owner he didn't have the coilover wrenches
, so I was wondering if there is any way to lower it or raise it without the wrenches or are there any universal ones?
Thanks

If the coilovers have double locking collars, just take a mallet and a ratchet extension to break loose the lower collar. Place the tip of the ratchet extension on one of the notches on the left side of the lower collar and tap away. You will have to do this with the car's weight on the suspension, otherwise the sleeve will just spin around. I would jack the car up by the LCA and put jack-stands under the nearest jacking point just in case.
Now that the locking collar is broken loose you can rest the car on the jack stand. This should let the spring go slack (unless the car is set really high), and you can adjust height very easily.
Ground control uses a pinch bolt in their collars, so no need to pound anything. Simply put the car on jack stands, locate the allen screw pinching the collar, and loosen it a couple turns. Now you can adjust height until you get what you want.
Either way, you don't have to lock either type of collar back down until you done finding the ride height your looking for. It takes several tires jacking the car up and putting it back down to get it right...
