Bumpstop question
I know how to cut them, just wondering if I am throwing on aftermarket springs with stock struts, do you need to cut them ? Or do you only need to cut them when your putting in aftermarket struts.
You need to cut them when you "lower" the car. This keeps you from riding on them. Never use less than 1" of bump stop (I would use more though).

if cut off the bumpstops wont it reduce the life the shocks by reducing shock travel by half an inch.

With the neuspeed springs your suppose to leave the bunpstops stock, no cutting at.

Well I just bought neuspeed lowering springs and it tells me in bold letters not to cut them.

what kind of struts do you have. if the spring rates are too high for the struts then the struts will wear out prematurely. OE struts or aftermarket OE type struts are usually not stiff enough to use with lowering springs.

There stock, and yes I am aware stock struts are not suppose to be used and I know it will make them wear down quicker.

I purchased my 94cx at 88k miles. I lowered it 2.25" at 100k with ground controls (400f/250r). At 150k, I put on some koni sports. All 4 of my OEM shocks were in good condition when I removed them. We do have pretty good streets here in vegas though (I drive carfully too)...

Do you mean the LCA bolts that came on the car from the factory (if so, those do suck ***)?

come on... you're in vegas. you can't pretend to know about the horrendous rust build up that we have to deal with on old cars up here in the northeast. my last CRX was an '89 from florida and you could take everything apart on that car by hand. two winters up here in new york and i was breaking out the torch just to get my tie rods to turn... ugh.

Here is the weird thing, when I did mine on my 1990 crx and on my girlfriends 89 crx I did not have a problem with the bolts, I just did springs on a 2000 civic and I had a major problem. Even a torch was not getting the job down, I put 700ft lbs of torque on them and they just kept breaking sockets.

You would think that, but those bolts are so ******* lame that even here in Vegas we snap at least 1 head off on every car...
Dry vegas weather does take good care of your cars though.
