Default Brake Pedal Is All Over

I have 94 eg hatch, its completey stock auto except lowered. Recently when i start the car it makes a weird hissing noise and then while driving last night my brake pedal would go all the way to the floor and the car wouldnt slow down at all, then today while driving my brakes were completely normal. I didnt see any brake line leaks na dit has brake fluid in it. My brake light is on though, any guesses ?

I'm not sure how similar they are, but my Aunt had a 94 Accord, and the brake light would light on the dash a few seconds after starting the car, but the brakes seemed OK. I checked for fluid in the reservoir, and it was fine. A shop ended up bleeding part of the ABS system, and the light then stayed off. I'm not sure if the brake light that is coming on for you is for low fluid in the cylinder, or possibly the same type of issue that my Aunt's car had. The hissing sound that you mentioned doesn't sound very good but is interesting, plus not stopping at all, sounds really scary. Good luck!! - Jim

The hiss noise could be a vacuum leak caused by the diaphragm inside the brake booster being torn. Is the pedal every excessively hard? Another possible cause could be an intermittent master cylinder problem, as long as you're positive there are no leaks in any lines although that wouldn't be intermittent

well there was no leaks and the brake pedal never got hard. I replaced the calibers and pads and the brakes work fine but i still get a hissing noise once in a while.

CaliPer. I would consider replacing the brake booster.
