Default 15/16" to 1" master cylinder...any diffrence?

has anyone noticed any difference in changing their master cylinder from the 15/16" to 1"?

is there any noticeable pedal travel improvement? is it worth the upgrade?

i currently have front and rear ITR brake calipers in my integra with a stock size 15/16" master cylinder. the brakes feel pretty good but im wonder if i can improve brake pedal feel with a larger master cylinder bore (more brake force applied vs. surface area of caliper pistons?)

anyone have an input on this?

I did that change with an aftermarket MC thet came 1" instead of 15/16 and fit the same booster. I did not feel much difference. You are talking moving the volume of a cylinder of brake fluid of 1" vs 15/16." That is about 6% larger diameter, and radius. Volume of a cylinder is proportional to (radius) squared. The increased volume of fluid moved for the same pedal travel is about 12%. All of that assumes that I can remember and do math correctly. Mostly it means less pedal travel. The brake booster contributes to much of the feel or force.

i can get a new 1" MC for a decent price...if it will give me a slightly less pedal travel it might be worth the effort.

the 6% larger diameter maybe be enough to compensate for the larger caliper pistons at each wheel...even though the pedal seems fine now it should improve more with the larger MC piston....

I got the 1" for the same price as 15/16 and upgraded. The change was not dramatic, but no reason not to upgrade if you need a new MC. I would not spend the money if my 15/16 MC was good.
