if you look at the very top where the adjustment tab is you'll notice that there is a bolt pattern. i believe the size for the portion is 3/8". the lock nuts are 3/4". just get the 3/4" on the upper lock nut and use the 3/8" to hold the shock and crack the upper one loose. and just back off the second lock nut

This is a great write up. I'm getting ready to do this in the next couple days. (Koni Yellows w/ Progress Tech. Sport springs)

It looks like the front shocks have three places for the circle clip and the backs have two. I think the front clip was in the middle and the back in the top. If I want to keep my car flat for autocross, where to I put the clips?

If your using "lowering springs", leave the circlips in their original spots (middle front, top rear). The lowering grooves are mainly for stock springs. If you lower a lowering spring, your rates may be too soft at that ride height causing bottoming.

The fronts have two grooves and the rears have three. The stock perch location is top front , middle rear. They were painted and delivered from the factory that way so if the perch curclips have been moves, the grooves with no paint on them are the stock ones.

Thanks for the replies. I was planning on just leaving the circle clip alone at first, but it's good to have some verification first. I'd hate to get it all together and on the ground, then find out I want to more it.

Like, there is the spring cup right, that sits on the perch. Now does that spring cup the only thing that slids over the the shock to sit on the perch or is there another ring to be put on before the spring cup. ( for the rears) becuase i know the fronts have them

If I remember correctly the spring chrome spring cup (pic #1) sits directly on the snap ring (pic #2). Only the front has the extra ring that goes in between. I'll check my instructions when I get home from work (4:30 pacific time)...

Spring cup:

Snap Ring"

you are correct,
the fronts have an extra ring that both sits on top but also goes around the sides of the circlip,

the rear spring cup has that design built in.

without that design the circlip can/will pop out..
I think this is why the skunk2 koni adapters were considered crap

I looked at my hardware again last night and you absolutely do need the 'ring' that goes over the circlip for both front AND rear - otherwise the circlip will not be captured properly and can FAIL

My Konis had the ring for the front, but didnt have it for the rear. It was already built into the spring seat.

mine have it already built into the rears
basically you need to use everything koni gives you to hold the spring on there..

thats the bottom line

final confirmation.. koni sport shocks (incl. sp3) .... does it got the silver ring to hold the circlip on the front AND rear or only the fronts come with them?

i posted above that mine came with front and rear but on closer inspection, my front shocks are the only one that came with the ring and my rears only came with spring cup seat.. is this enough to hold the clip in place?

thanks.

confirmed with Koni...

Only fronts have the ring that go over the clip. Rears do not have.
