i was caught engaging in a "speed contest" back in november I went to court and still saw a judge...also cost me about 3500 dollars for that dumb ****... i believe they are going about this all wrong, people should be punished because it is illegal but not crushing cars....

Come down to Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego Peeeps. You can see race dates @ http://www.racelegal.com. It's only 1/8 mile run but I always get alot of runs in there.

I also hear that Barona Casino out here has a quarter mile run but havn't been there yet.

Ever wonder why they make our cars capable of going over the speed limit??

Saw this on the front page of the times this morning.. very sad.

But once you get older and you've seen both sides of it.. your view changes. Im a family man now and I dont want some careless ***** to hit or kill my family or I while we are minding our own business on the street.

When I was younger, I cant tell you how many accidents ive seen at the SR's in Ontario, San Diego, and Sylmar and the handfull of deaths. Ive even been involved with flagging a race in Fullerton that ended up a bad accident where inocent people were badly hurt.
So what, street racing has been around a long time, and yes its true that imports arent the only ones out there yet they are targeted more than domestics. But it is what it is and its not going to change.
The scene has gotten bigger and evolved into a new monster than what it once was and theres less area to do it at. Not to mention the stupidity level has gotten outta control. Its not just spikey haired 16-18 year old's either "****** it up for the rest of us". Thats a cheap cop out.

You've chosed to get into an exclusive hobby thats expensive and requires a controlled environment to do it in... So regardless if there isnt much track space or time, be a man and wait for the time and pay the money to take it to the track.

Keep it off the street or crush those ****** cars.

However, there are other ways to pull these kids off the road. There are MANY other options, like revoking or suspending a license, community service, heavy fines, and conducting order in a COURTROOM like democracy was intended. Your point of view to "crush those ****** cars" is fascism at its best.

I, too, am for the safety and security of the public against illegal SRs; crushing cars is not the way to solve the problem. It's only a bandaid, and I guarantee we will now hear about more highway chases.

Fascism.. no. Extreme.. yes.

Fascism is about the needs of the state taking precedence over the needs of the individual.

The state is taking extreme measures due to extreme (and dangerous) circumstances where hefty fines, suspesnion of a licenses, and impounding of the cars hasnt worked. Evidence is in the number of deaths and arrests on repeat offenders.

So you saying that its Fascist because of it not taking the into consideration the needs of the street racing individual is wrong. How about bringing the needs and safety of the general public into the picture taking preceedance over the WANTS (not needs) of the street racer. Thats democracy at its best.. the mass majority voting officials into office that WILL take action against this stuff. If you dont like it, get out and vote for someone else that you think will back up your ideas.

I like how you guys think it's the cops' fault. They don't actually make up the laws, fyi, and they are doing their part to make the community safer. Unless they are obviously being unfair to you, it sounds quite immature to direct your anger toward them - redirect it toward the source instead.
I think those of you who are getting on the government's case sound much more focused. I can agree with that anger (although the communism etc. comments are inaccurate)
While this is probably a pretty bad law, and will likely make things worse like mentioned, it's nice to see they are taking action against street racing - they just need to do it differently.
If you're not racing, you won't get caught for it. If you drive safely on the public streets, what's the big deal? Race on the tracks.
