is it an si? or any special model... not in a 97 civic its just a 97 civic and thats all...

all that aftermarket crap you put on your car drops the value of it motor swap drops the value because then its not smog legal and cannot be sold if its not smog legal, if you took out the airbags then your messing with the safety of the car also dropping the value of it..

then car insurance companies look at it like this... your car was stock like everyother car from factory, you put all that crap on it and made it appealing for people to look at even the wrong people ...

dont get me wrong i drive a modded honda too but even though i have close to 1k in my suspension another 2k in my motor if my hatch got stolen they already told me i would be getting mid blue book which is barely 2k they dont cover aftermarket parts...

my friends mom is an insurance writer and she tells me this stuff all the time

Its a 97 civic ex , thanx but i do know that aftermarket is no bueno as of being covered by the insurance but OEM thats a different subject. If u have receipts & it shows proof that the parts are OEM then thats a different story, they have to take care of you no mater what,Im trying to do my homework right now and I spoke to an insurance comissioner which he told me the steps to take....I will keep u guys informed just in case it happens to anyone out there..

When i was 16 and just about to get my license, I bought a 92 honda accord for $500 with a blown engine. I had acquired an engine from a friend and swapped them over. took a week since i was learning and being taught by the mechanics at my dads shop, I had put a new loud *** ricey muffler on it cause i thought it was cool back then lol. After I got it all ready to drive, and went to get my license that same week. Not even a week after driving it, someone stole it from me, i was so hurt i didnt want to do anything.

Anyways, I had moved on but still not forgotten about it. 8 months later, the cops call saying they found my car in Seattle in some bushes missing only the radio and catalytic converter. It turned out, a neighbor had seen that car parked there 8 months ago and never thought anything about it. Only reason why it was reported was because P.U.D was going to trim trees around power lines and saw my car and reported it.

So, don't lose hope my friend. It could be just sitting somewhere and some ignorant *** is too lazy to care, I just hope it gets found but doesn't take 8 months for it to be found like mine!

CHEERS!

Damn I read every page since the one I last posted on. I had a mean hunch that by page 15 I would've seen you post something about finding the car. It's page 15 and I haven't seen that yet. My man, ya know..I put my face in my palm with this one. So discouraging to be on the bus ya know. I have a 1998 Civic Ex clean title coupe like yours i'm selling but mines is green oem just the motor isn't as healthy as it should be but it gets the job done. If you ever wanted to go that route and do that SiR AGAIN definitely let me know. I had Major SiR plans for this car but I've spent so much cash on motor replacements I've practically fallen out of love with the car. I'm looking into getting a 04 tsx and going euro-r.

Anyways, I was surprised to come on and see that this thread was still moving forward and my man trust me on this, don't stop. You're just one healthy lead away from closure. There isn't really a naked place in California a cop wouldn't patrol. I'm not saying put your trust in them but I do know from experience that when i'm parked in a random spot anywhere I think I've found that I won't be bothered a cop will be there at some point just passing...So in any event if at some point your car is left somewhere unattended for a long period of time it will be found. If not it is in someone's garage for sure. There's no way it wouldn't be. Or as one of the guys said recycled but damn that's extreme.
