Mine does it too from time to time, kinda like running over a cat

As for the timing belt... I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Is your clutch a puck style or a full disc? About every 4 or 6 puck clutch I have ever heard makes this noise. It's not your timing belt it's the puck clutch making all the noise. My old ITR used to do it all the time too. I'm guessing maybe the clutch engauges so hard it makes the release bearing squeak? I wouldn't worry about the noise it's normal so to speak.

Joo may find yourself replacing a main shaft bearing in the tranny in the near future...I did.

Timing belt doesn't have anything to do with 'squeaking'. It's the only belt with teeth. If it were squeaking, you'd have a couple of valve problem too...

isnt this just clutch chatter? usually caused by certain clutch/flywheel combos, where the clutch disc material squeaks on the flywheel? someone correct me if Im wrong.

Can't say it much better than that

As for the timing belt, I really don't think that is the problem. Have you checked your bearings at all?

I never heard a sound come from my first tranny nothing like we are discussing now and I had to have all the bearings and cases replaced.

SO this just leads me to believe that the sound is just from the clutch hitting the FW. I doubt its doing any damage cause I have this setup and sound for more then a year and its still feels and works great.

You are correct. This is what I have been trying to explain. Puck style clutches usually makes the squeak noise or have clutch chatter. You cannot expect a aftermarket race clutch to be as quiet as a oem one.

I think more specifically, its not just the TYPE of clutch disc, but its the type of disc MATERIAL that causes the chattering. My half ceramic/half metalic disc chattered like crazy with my CM flywheel.

First i thought it was my stick shift driving skills, (learned to drive stick 1 month ago) but then my friend who was driving it, it made the same noise.

Just make sure it's not major. I can stick with the "run over with the cat noise" from time to time.

thanks all

It is the clutch disk. Like someone said before, th ematerial of the disk is half ceramic and half metallic. Metal on metal = squell. I had an ACT four puck and xtreme pressure plate on an Si I used to own for a while. It eventually broke something in the tranny and when the clutch was pulled out it wore about a 1/16 to an 1/8" groove in the pressure plate and the flywheel.
