HX Tranny swap?
Hey guy's i just bought a 1996 hx Auto in great condition for $800 bucks..
What i was wondering if a Auto Ex tranny same Gen would swap right in place with out any problems( Different plugs, wiring, or what ever )....
Because i heard the HX's have special tranny's...So u guys think the hx tranny will have the same mounting points as a Ex tranny???

I just swaped a 7th gen tranny I had to get different axels and rewire the position sensor that was on the auto tranny so the ecu would think that it was in park. You will not need new axels, but you will need to rewire the car so it thinks it is in park. The only problem is if you have a rev limit when the car is in park such as in my car I hade to wire it to think that it was in drive when I fliped a switch that I kept in the glove box. This all sucks so I am geting a new ECU. before you begin I have a few sugestions to make it easier.
1). buy a helms manual
2). be sure to have all of you parts before you begin (I went without a car for 3 weeks)
3).use a engine hoist to suport the engine because most of the mounts are on the tranny and a jack holing it up from below will get in the way. (which reminds me that your tranny side engine mount will be different and the frony one may be different so get ones from a manual)
4). to drain the fluid start a a day before you want to begin to drop the auto tranny and tip the cars oposite side up if not alot of tranny fluid will still be left inside (my tranny drained fluid on the garadge floor fo the next week (and that **** stinks)
5). before you begin unplug one wire at a time from the auto and try to start the car if you car does not start when you get to a wire then you will need to deal with that wire when the swap is compleate
6). replace the clutch and and get a light weight fly wheel. you don't want to have to drop the tranny again.
7). get a helms manual helmsinc.com (yes i repeated myself because the helms is the best thing that you caould buy it will tell you more than anyone on this site ever could)

No not quite. I have a Z6-T (t3/t04e,SFP mani,Hondata S200B) in my 91 5 Speed hatch. I bought this car from a friend for $800 bucks. So it's kinda like my beater. Because traction becomes an enemy when it rains...
