Why is my car so slow?
I recently purchased a 1996 Integra LS 5 speed. And took it to the track to see what it would do before I sarted modding it. I ran a 17.5 my first time but my best was a 16.9. Is this normaly slow? (its a 2door btw)
That doesn't sound all that slow for a stock car without a good driver. No offense, but how experienced are you at drag racing? Also, what condition is the car in?
Good tires will make a difference.
Shorter gearing will help.
Weight reduction will help.
A LSD will help.
Anything to boost power will help.

If this was your first time at the track, I would account it to driver error. My advice to you to get a good time with a stock motor is to get good tires, launch high, and shift cleanly. Respectable times should come out of this

Just keep practicing, give your car a tune up and then hit the track, if your engine is hurting, your not gonna have respectable times with a beatup motor.

I do have wheels and tires on it they are brand new khumo 711's 205 40 17 and they stick good i mean im a pretty good driver i ran a 13.3 on my buddys eclipse gsx. I think its just a slow car for now but i was just wonderin if that was normal for a stock ls. BTW it has just over a 100k miles.
dude, nothing to worry about a stock GS-R only runs in the 15's and a Type-R in the 14's. yeah kuhmo 711 are pretty damn good tires. all i can say is to turbo your car, run 12 pounds with hondata. and yes an LS motor will hold it, hell a B16 will hold it. My friend has an LS with an SC61 turbo and he's at 320hp.
Well, the stock, run of the mill, LS is not very fast compared to a lot of cars. However, it is not dreadfully slow. I find it pretty good for scooting around town daily-driving and stuff
, no racing or track time here. Just face it, a stock LS is not a race car, nor was it intended to be one. However, we can change this with money and mods
. As for your car, we cant really say whats wrong with your car, or why it is "slow." Slow is relative. I always was under the impression that 16s. area is fair game for LS's. Most people run the whole 16 spectrum on stock ls's. Depends on A LOT of variables, these are some variables that affect your time. Remember the car is STOCK so the car itself has no mods(except tires). Track condition/location, weather, temp, engine condition, drivetrain condition, driver skill, etc.
