Default car idling very low, missing a little, timing maybe? help please

92 si hatch d16z6 all stock besides lightened flywheel/act clutch

i bought it salvage so i dont know the last time the timing belt was changed

heres my problem the car idles at like 200rpms, and sometimes it shakes like its about to die and the car shakes. it seems like it is misfiring also, the plugs were pretty good when i put them in (used from my old car) and my ignition is a bit retarded. i used a timing light to check the timing and the mark wouldnt stay steady. anyone lend some info, thanks

Sounds like you already found the problem.

- Advance the timing to the correct specs.
- Drop in fresh plugs with the correct gaps
- Replace bad grounds (battery, tranny, and valve cover to frame)
- Check spark plug wires with a multimeter
- Test coil with a multimeter
- Check/clean air filter
- Adjust idle (may need to check timing again after doing this)
