Default gas mileage drop after apexi power intake installed

Hi,

have anyone installed the apexi power intake and replaced the stock intake on an integra and gas mileage dropped alot?

Maybe its because I hvaen't reset the ECU by disconnect the battery, how long do i have to leave it disconnect?

how do you get the bottom half of the stock instake tube out?

also is it because I don't have an after market exhaust so that it doesn't have a bigger exhaust flow so its wasting energy on burning gas?

please help.

If you mean the resonator box, or whatever its called in the bumper, you need to jack up the car, remove the wheel and liner, and can then unbolt it from below.

My mileage went up slightly after installing an AEM CAI. I didn't bother to reset the ecu.

what does the resonator box do?

can you tell me the proper way to reset the ECU? do i just disconnect the battery and leave it for 15min and start up the car?

or do i have to do something with the fuse box?

Resetting the ECU isn't required, since the ECU will adjust to the new modifications.

If you want to take out your resonator, you could also try doing a DIY Icebox as shown on BSQ's page: http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_Icebox_CAI.html

i have stock exhaust and everything, after i put in the apexi power intake, i notice a drop of 30 miles on a full tank of gas, so i was thinking if i need to change the exchaust for the exhaust gas to exhaust better.

Its been about a week since i installed and its hasn't got any better, i mean i still get above 300 miles, but before i replace the stock intake, i get about 380 miles total on a 11 gallons of gas.

I think i will try to reset the ecu by disconnect the battery for few hours and then let it idle for 15min and then turn it off and turn it back on and drive for a bit.

To reset your ECU, pull the fuse for it out of the fuse box. Let it sit for like 5-10 minutes, then plug it back in.

In order to remove your stock intake tube, you have to peel back the fender well cover thingy (black plastic shroud...usually covered in road gunk), and take off the bumper (I think). My friend someone how mangaged to get the resonator box (lower piece of ****) off without taking off the bumper on someone's 95 GSR. I think he undid the bumper lens.

Gas mileage for your motor should improve slightly, unless you flog your car. It doesn't take long for your ECU to 'relearn' itself.

What the others said.

Take out the fenderwell lining and the cover under the bumber. Taking off the bumber corner light will also make it a bit easier.

I've taken out the box without removing the bumber. It's a pain though. There's one bolt that's a biatch to get. It's the bolt holding the engine bay intake tube. After that, all that's left are two or three bolts for the resonator.
