D16 Question
Hey there my name is Angel I live in SF. I have owned many hatchbacks. The newest being a 88 hatch that I just picked up in great condition and never been tampered with. Mind you with all the Honda folks out there with parts constantly in demand its hard to go DOHC without alot of cash. I want to go with a GSR swap but at 5000 grand total out the door cash is it really that practical? Iam wondering with that kind of cash is it better to sink the money into the current lowmileaged 1988 d16 motor and will it keep up with the good ol GSR DOHC? I have always gone CTR Type R or LS. Iam not found of the LS and the Type R is high budget so I was thinking GSR but at 5 grand is it really worth the cash? Can anyone help me out

go to the crx/ef civic forum, it has alot about these cars and some have gsr motors but the big thing now is what they call ls/vtec. I believe its a b18a or b18b block with a b16 head so you still have vtec with more torque than a b16. I hear its a good swap.
Well thank you for your sugestion. Unfortunately I have had three LS V tec. The first was just an LS in my 91 SI Honda Hatchbach then I added the v tec head. Then I went and Bout a fully built 12:1 CTR Honda pistons lightened crank the works. The head was B16 with The works type R inside and Head intake titanium valves and springs. Ect built by Erics in LA. Very fast. One thing is is the LS Tranny is garbage unless you are going Turbo and still its a dog. Oh and the Distributor. I think Iam just going to say screw it and just get the GSR block and load it up. Anyways thanks again for your ideas.
