Default tranny 2 short?

Im boosting my ls soon, but i have a b16 tranny. I was wondering if that would cause a problem sense i i would only be spinning 2 7000rpm. Would i run out of gears 2 fast? Our should i just raise my redline and get arp rod bolts? Need help deciding what 2 do. All is appreciated

man i heard that you should get a ls tranny because you stay in boost longer and i wouldn't **** with the redline by getting rod bolts etc but thats just me.

you'll accelerate quicker with the B16 tranny no questions asked...but yes your rev limit will limit you. to raise your redline, arp bolts will not solve the problem. you'll need to upgrade your valve springs if you want to raise your rev limit.

an LS tranny will keep you in boost longer yes...but you'll accelerate a low slower due to the longer gears. it's kinda like riding a bike...with shorter gears you accelerate faster...with longer gears it takes more effort to accelerate but your top end is better. just keep that in mind next time you have a question about trannies and gearing.

i thought that was a mith that people say, that it didn't matter if u stayed in boost longer, if your not accelarating, than your not going anyware, wich is the problem with the ls. But then u don't want 2 be 2 short, and not be able 2 spool your turbo to its max, casue u run out redline.

oh just to add this in. i'm running a GSR tranny with my boosted LS and it's a perfect match! gears aren't too long or short.

For an LS, it's pretty much general knowledge now that a GSR tranny is the best. That "stay in boost longer with an LS tranny" is just poppycock.

Raising your redline and getting ARP rod bolts have really nothing to do with anything. ARP rod bolts come with many rod packages, and ARP rod bolts alone on stock rods aren't really helping much. Raising your redline is also pointless unless you are making power up higher in the rpm limit. Do you have cams that make power there? Or a valvetrain that can handle it?

If you don't mine sacrificing some top end speed, the B16 tranny would be very good. Shorter gears area almost ALWAYS better.
