Default GSR Build ?'s

Ok i spun a rod bearing on my gsr motor so ive decided to rebuild it a little since i had the cash. I want to put a ls crank and rods with a set of PCT pistons. From the compression calculator on c-speedracing.com that puts my compression at 12.2-12.3.

Now my questions are
If anyone has done this, how serious is the valve clearance?
What can be done to fix it if its to close?
Im going NA so would the LS rods be ok with just some ARP rod bolts?
Will GSR oil pump, pickup, stock girdle be good enough to safely rev at least 8k?
Will the oil squiters need to be removed or shaved?
What type of tuning would you recommend?
Anyone dyno'd this setup before?

OUCH!!! I have heard that clearance with CTR's is close. Every post I see concerning this always has someone saying "clay the motor". So there I guess I'll be that one person.

I have heard that with higher lift cams, you may be a little too close for comfort. That could prove disastrous if timing went off just a **** hairs worth.

you are losing a better rod/stroke ratio.

that whole r/s stuff is garbage. it does have some key points but there is a difference between a motor that hauls *** and one that is moderatly quick that has a great stroke. I might be getting a Si shortblock to toss my gsr head on just to have my car running again. But isnt my car to heavy for a tourqeless motor?

Yea its not to big of a deal when you put a rod through the side of you block dont sweat it you can just glue the pieces back together within a couple of hours.

As far as putting LS crank and rods in a GSR! Why not plenty of ppl do and the LS has a longer stroke(89mm) and it will raise your compresion and yield more torque! CTR Pistons sounds good, but beware there are clearance issues and you will have to clay the motor, but it shouldnt be a big deal, just dont run a thinner headgasket!

Another issue with the LS internals in a GSR you have to watch how high you rev that motor b/c the LS bottom end want mean to go to 8K but that doesnt mean you can't! Get some ARP Rod Bolts and talk to someone at a local machine shop and see what they can do!
