Default diagnosis help

I hope someone can help me. I am a '99 Honda CR-V owner who did not have the regular maintainence performed on my vehicle at 90,000-110,000 miles. (Timing belt replaced). I accept full responsibility for the fact the timing belt broke at 125,000 miles, which in turn damaged the valves in my engine. I had the dealer rebuild them and fix the problem for $2100.00. This happened mid July. Five days after picking up the vehicle, it broke down again. Water pump seized and broke timing belt again. Went back in shop and dealer was going to charge me $500.00 to replace the pump and install new timing belt. I did some research, to include contacting two other dealers and talking to a mechanic: all three stated that I should have been adviced that the water pump be replaced the first go around. Since I was never adviced, the dealer doing the work fixed the problem no charge. Also stated the new valve job was not damaged when water pump seized. The day I picked the vehicle up(second trip), it died on me five times at idle before I could get around block and back to dealer. They kept it overnight, said the IAC valve was misfunctioning. They replaced this free of charge. Picked vehicle up next week and drove it about a week. It seemed to be hesitating a lot during drive (acceleration), almost like clogged fuel filter or power surge. It no longer has the pick-up or power it had. The engine seems to run hard, harmonic balancer was vibrating very bad, and I was noticing a slight knock every once in while over passenger rear wheel. It also feels like it is trying very hard to die at stopsigns and lights, however, RPM needle is not bouncing like it was when it died 5 times, it just barely bounces. Took it back in, told them to look at harmonic balancer, and all other problems.
They called me and said the seal on the inside of the balancer went bad and needed to replace it but there was no suspension problems & rear differential fluids were fine. They insisted Harmonic balancer was not a problem they created and replaced the balancer pulley rather than just seal, plus replaced all drive belts at my request. $500.00 I paid for this. Got vehicle back, harmonic balancer is shaking just as bad, it shakes upper radiator hose, air filter cover, throttle cable, hose from fuel filter, engine head, steering wheel, to name a few. Click is still there in back right side (over exhaust). Power is very bad, no pick-up and it acts like it wants to die at idle, squeels when starting (lose drive belt?), and AC seems less powerful and less cool! I am at my wits end. I have a chilton manual and I am a woman educating myself. I think the valves are still damaged or may have been redamaged when water pump seized. Also, they did admit the cam timing was off when I picked it up last (fourth time in) and they said they repaired that. Any ideas or suggestions?

A man named Tina, highly unlikely. But then again, there have been times when I was incorrect . I would think you need to sell that problem to someone with less wits than yourself. The CRX and CRV are very different vehicles. - Darrell

</TD></TR></TABLE>it could be many things, check your engine mounts to see if anyone of them are broken(torn). if you think that the valves got bendt after the water pump broke, then go right ahead and buy a compression check gauge from sears. read the manual, and perform a compression check on the engine. good luck

Yes, I am female. Sorry for posting to the CRX section as opposed to the CRV section. I do know there is a difference; however, I had been looking at the computer for quite a while last night when I submitted the post and the eyes must have been a little foggy. Old age (37) is not helping this matter much either (eyes, not CRV).
I do appreciate the responses I received. I am going back in that place first thing tomorrow morning for the fifth time, threatening that if I pick it up again and it is not right...a lawyer will be involved. I read about the compression check in the manual and considered doing one, or taking it to someone else to have it done, but have been very fearful that if I mess with this engine or allow someone else to, that it will void the 6000 mile/6month warranty. It looks like I have no other choice though now. So, from the description of the problems, do you all feel this is a valve/piston problem? I agree that evrything that the timing belt runs on should have been replaced the first time. It was never even mentioned. Sorry to bother the CRX techs....I'll post to the CRV techs. Thanks again.

It sounds like that dealership that you took it too SUCKS and is only out to make money and not really interested in fixing the problems. They probably know what wrong with the car and lets say for instance all of it could have been done for $2500 the 1st time, but they can make more if they break it up for you.

If they don't fix the problem this 5th time, I say go somewhere that cares.

Yes, it does look that way. I am 37 and have only owned Hondas since I was 15. I am a huge Honda fan, I love them. I bought a 91 Honda civic from this dealer in Jan. '92 and drove it til 99 with no problems except regular maintainence and replacing cv joints. This dealer has always went above and beyond for me, but it seems as if times are changing. I've heard they are under new management. Don't know if this matters or not? I am really unsure about how to go in there tomorrow and tell them something is still wrong with this vehicle. I guess I feel like I have to go in there and say the ?*?*?* is broke and you need to fix it but in reality I guess I just need to tell them the things I've told ya'll and let them worry about finding out what is wrong with it. I just keep getting the run around. Stuff like this, "Well, we heard the knock the first time we test drove it but haven't heard it since then." and "we can not tell there is a problem with the power/pick-up, but of course you can because you drive it all the time." I would like to know what tests to demand they perform and show proof they were performed and the results. I know about the engine compression check. Would there be any DTC's that appear on the scan tool if the check engine light has not come on?
