Default Fuel Pump Whining

1999 Accord hesitating during acceleration. Most apparent while engine is cold. Fuel pump is making whining noise upon ignition on, and while engine operates. Whining noise cycles on and off with fuel pump operation.

Vehicle has 106K miles, and unsure of service history as I recently purchased used. Any way of getting service history by VIN?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You can get a history with the VIN though http://www.carfax.com

Thanks for your input.

I have carfax report for vehicle. I am seeking maintenance history for vehicle, based on service performed at Honda dealership (e.g. timing belt replacement). Any sight available where this service history is maintained?

I ommitted that the car hesistates during acceleration while cold. Appears to be fuel delivery problem, but goes away after warm up. Potential problem with fuel pump or regulator suspected. Any similar experiences and resolution would be appreciated.

Service history and title history are two different animals.

As for service history, you might be able to find the history if you call up all the local dealers that the previous owner might've went to. Other than that, I doubt that there's a national database of service calls. If they even do, I'm sure only the district service managers or higher have access to those records.

Thanks for input. I have name of dealership written in the manual, and will pursue service history through them.

Any experience with hesitation related to fuel delivery? Given the whining condition, I am inclined to change the fuel pump. I plan to post another topic seeking input on DIY feasibility.

i have been having the same problem with my accor recently. I live in NY and it started since the weather got cold, I am sure that it is just the gas is a little frozen. They station is problay still using the summer mix which is watered down. so don't worry. what i do is i let my car sit till the engine is warm then it is safe to drive. no hesitaion.

man I got the same problem, I only have about 85000km on mine,(about 40000miles) Mine does it when the engine is off, and it keeps doing it until I turn the engine back on, it does it for hours, over night, all day...really annoying..

Sounds like your problem is different. If noise from pump continues after ignition off, main relay may be defective. Have you pulled the fuel pump fuse to verify source of noise? It is number one fuse on dirvers side on my '99 Accord.
